The Current Report Editor in Chief Cece Woods started The Local Malibu, an activism based platform in 2014. The publication was instrumental in the success of pro-preservation ballot measures and seating five top vote-getters in the Malibu City Council elections. During the summer of 2018, Woods exposed the two-year law enforcement cover-up in the Malibu Creek State Park Shootings, and a few short months later provided the most comprehensive local news coverage during the Woolsey Fire attracting over 1 million hits across her social media platforms. Woods also founded Malibu based 90265 Magazine and Cali Mag devoted to the authentic southern California lifestyle.
Thea Eskey

Thea Eskey is an established writer with 10 years of experience in everything from songwriting to journalism. Passionate about her work as a writer, she recently completed That’s Entertainment!, a research intensive screenplay about MGM in the 1930’s through the 1970’s. The screenplay examines the ways in which the system of Golden Age Hollywood exploited the likes of Judy Garland, Lena Horne and Gene Kelly as they attempted to reach for their respective dreams. Thea is also working on a series of long-form local and national investigative reports focused on topics of relating to justice, placemaking and bureaucratic failures. It is stories like these that she is passionate about. Stories that voice important issues that are not traditionally given attention and have the power to change the way in which we view the world. Thea is very much looking forward to utilizing her talents to create safer and more just communities, ones which tirelessly advocate on behalf of those most in need.
